SPORTS BRIEFS: Relief to taekwondo player

KATHMANDU, June 3: National taekwondo player Ashok Khadka, whose house was destroyed in earthquake, received Rs 125,600 as relief from Nepali living in UK on Wednesday.



Indra Gurung, chief coach of Jen Martial Arts Academy, UK, handed over the amount to Khadka, whose house in Alapot 3 of Kageshwari Manhara Municipality was completely destroyed in the devastating earthquake.

Maharjan injured while volunteering
KATHMANDU: Karate coach Gangaram Maharjan, who bagged gold for Nepal in the eighth South Asian Games, met with an accident while volunteering to manage earthquake-affected house in Lubu, Lalitpur on Wednesday. Maharjan hurt his shoulder after a woodblock fell from the fourth floor of his house upon him.


According to the B and B Hospital, the accident left Maharjan with broken collarbone, which will be fixed with an insertion of steel after operation. Maharjan had himself volunteered in clearing rubbles from the affected houses in different VDC's of Budhanilkantha municipality under Nepal Democratic Sports Association-sports wing of Nepali Congress.
