SPORTS BRIEFS: Mourning in memory of Shah

KATHMANDU, July 2: National Sports Council on Monday organized a mourning in memory of its former Member Secretary Sarad Chandra Shah. The mourning organized on the 13th day of his demise was attended by people from various disciplines of sports.



The attendees observed a minute of silence on the occasion. NSC Member Secretary Yubaraj Lama, former Member Secretary Kamal Thapa, ANFA President Ganesh Thapa, among others, praised Shah´s role in developing Nepali sports and infrastructure. [break]



SOS wins disable football


KATHMANDU: SOS and Nepal Differently Able Women´s Team won the men´s and women´s title of Differently Able Football Tournament organized by Nepal Disable Football Tournament on Monday. Nepal defeated Kathmandu Valley Team 1-0. Sharmila Silwal scored the match deciding goal. In the course of taking home men´s title, SOS edged past Kathmandu Valley Team 3-1.



Rim Bahadur Kumal netted twice for SOS and Ram Prasad Kharel added another for the winning side. Rishi Bastakoti scored the lone goal for Kathmandu. Nepal Para Olympic Committee President Deepak Koirala distributed prizes to the winners.
