The life of Dambar Bahadur Moktan follows the famous line from Nepal’s great poet Laxmi Prasad Devkota -- Saag Ra Sisno Khayeko Besa Anandi Manale, which means one is better off being satisfied even with little resources.

Dambar, 27, is a carpenter hailing from Rautahat of southern plains of Nepal. Now he lives at Boudha in Kathmandu. He is the father of a son and a daughter. “I came to Kathmandu when I was a 13-year-old boy with a dream to build my own house. So I started working as a laborer at building areas.
I worked very hard during my initial days here.” Dambar was impressed with Devkota’s poetry after returning to Kathmandu few years ago from Sillong, India. He added, “I got married at 19 and to sustain my family I thought working outside the country will raise my living standard. But I was wrong. So I came back and learnt carpentry in Bhaktapur. I am at Bouddha for the last four years and I am happy here.”
