MELBOURNE, Australia, Dec 27: Steven Smith and Adam Voges were untroubled while bringing up their half centuries Sunday as Australia cruised to 473-3 at lunch on day two of the second test against the West Indies and toward a likely declaration.

Smith was batting on 90 with Voges on 75 at the break while sharing a 145-run partnership.
The West Indies never looked like making a breakthrough in the session as Smith and Voges calmly built what is set to be another daunting Australian 1st-innings total.

Opener Joe Burns scored 128 and fit-again Usman Khawaja had 144 to set a solid foundation on the opening day.

Australia has amassed 1,056 runs for just seven wickets against an uninspired West Indies bowling attack in its two innings so far this series.

Jerome Taylor, the most effective bowler for the West Indies, saw his figures blow out to 2-97 at lunch, while left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican (0-104) found little on offer from the placid Melbourne Cricket Ground pitch. Strike bowler Kemar Roach (0-82) has bowled just 15 overs in the innings.

Australia resumed the day on 345-3 with Smith on 32. The Australian skipper drove six boundaries in his 131-ball knock.

Voges started the day on 10 and made 10 well-timed fours from his 122 deliveries.
