Share prices of 240 companies decline as NEPSE loses 58.05 points

Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Tuesday nosedived 58.05 points to close at 2,582.73 points.

KATHMANDU, March 25: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Tuesday nosedived 58.05 points to close at 2,582.73 points.


The secondary market opened at 2,640.78 points. The market that gained around 12 points in the pre-opening session however went to a straight fall during the main trading period. The market index fell to the day’s low at 2,582.1 points when trading time was left for 20 minutes.

All the 13 trading groups were the losers in the intraday trading. Non-life insurance plunged by the largest of 301.34 points, while a total of seven groups witnessed a decline of three-digit points in their market indices. 


The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, also declined 8.44 points. Daily turnover amount however increased to Rs 5.18 billion from Rs 4.48 billion on Monday.  


Among the individual companies, only four were gainers while 240 were registered as losers. Himalayan Reinsurance Limited had the biggest turnover of Rs 232 million.


Narayani Development Bank Limited shed the highest of 8.73 percent. NCC Debenture 2086 had its market value increase by 4.52 percent, the biggest of all.
