KATHMANDU, March 14: Seven people were killed and seven others injured after a microbus carrying pilgrims returning from Manakamana Temple plunged off the road in Gorkha District on Saturday evening.
The microbus, bearing registration number Bagmati Province 006 Kha 8430, fell around 200 metres down a cliff near Kantar in Ward No. 3 of Shahid Lakhan Rural Municipality, police said.
One dead, 17 injured in microbus accident
Police Inspector Rajan Lamsal said the identities of the deceased are yet to be established.
A total of 14 passengers were on board the vehicle at the time of the accident. “Seven people died in the crash while the remaining seven sustained injuries,” Lamsal said, adding that rescue teams are working to transport the injured to nearby hospitals.
Police have launched further investigation into the incident and are working to identify the victims. It is said that all those travelling in the microbuss were Indian nationals except for the driver and co-driver.
