Gopal Singh Bohara of the secretariat said the paychecks ranging from Rs 250,000 to Rs 400,000 were being provided to the former fighters of the Maoist party who opted for voluntary retirement during the army integration. They would be paid as per their rank, he added.
The number of the combatants who opted voluntary retirement is 2,812 from the seventh division while 314 opted integration.
The ex-fighters have thronged the District Administration Office.
Former company commander Arendra Dhanuk said they were bound to opt for voluntary retirement as the `party used them only as a tool.
Meanwhile, the ex-combatants deemed disqualified during the verification have protested government decision on financial help to them, saying the help was very little.
The Discharged PLA Fighters´ Nepal organized a news conference in the capital on Wednesday and said Rs 200,000 the government decided to provide to each discharged fighter was inadequate.
Coordinator Sagar Limbu said all discharged PLA fighters would not accept the amount because it was a dishonest scheme.
He demanded that every discharged fighter should be provided minimum Rs 600,000.
