JANAKPUR, April 8: Suspended lawmaker Sanjay Sah, who is under the custody of District Police Office (DPO) Dhanusha, has begun fast-unto-death protest at the detention center, alleging police of wrongfully implicating him in crimes he did not commit.

The DPO has recently claimed that Sah was the mastermind in the murder of media entrepreneur Arun Singhaniya that took place in Janakpur seven years ago. The DPO is currently investigating Sah's role in murder. But Sah has denied his involvement in the murder and accused the police of dragging him in the case wrongfully.

"Police officers involved in the investigation are preparing documents to get them signed by him forcibly to establish his connection in the incident," Sah told Dhanusha district chair Sanjay Singh of Sadbhawana Party, who met him at the DPO's detention center on Thursday evening. He demanded judicial investigation using modern technology.

Sah has not eaten anything since Thursday morning and has said he would continue his fast until a credible investigation is started, Singh informed.

"First, we will ask the detainee not to do so. If he doesn't listen, nothing can be done," Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Nakul Pokhrel, who is also the spokesperson of DPO Dhanusha, told Republica.

Sah is already serving a jail sentence after being convicted for his role in the bomb blast four years ago in Janakpur that killed five persons. Publisher of Janakpur Today Arun Singhaniya was shot dead at Shiva Chowk in Janakpur on March 1, 2010.

DPO Dhanusha, in a press meet last week, claimed that their investigations have found accused Sah of being the architect of Singhaniya's murder.
