Nepal issues travel advisory urging citizens to avoid travel to Iran

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has issued a travel advisory urging Nepali citizens to avoid travelling to Iran in view of the prevailing security situation in the country.

KATHMANDU, Jan 13: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has issued a travel advisory urging Nepali citizens to avoid travelling to Iran in view of the prevailing security situation in the country.



In the advisory issued on Tuesday, the MoFA advised Nepali nationals currently living and working in Iran to strictly follow security advisories issued by the Iranian authorities, remain indoors as much as possible, stay alert and exercise caution to ensure their safety.

The MoFA has also urged Nepali citizens planning to travel to Iran to postpone their travel until the situation returns to normal.


MoFA said it is closely monitoring developments and has requested Nepali citizens to remain in contact with the ministry and concerned diplomatic missions for assistance in case of emergency.

Similarly, Nepali citizens in Iran can contact the Embassy of Nepal in Doha at +974-6621 4419 or email eondoha@mofa.gov.np for necessary assistance.
