KATHMANDU, Jan 28: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has drawn the government's attention to making digital payments free of charges.
RSP Whip Nisha Dangi met Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel on Tuesday and demanded the immediate removal of the tax imposed on digital payments. Stating that the practice of imposing taxes on electronic transactions has forced the general public to pay more than they should, she said that it is wrong to impose taxes even though the government has prepared a blueprint for a digital frame network.

She wrote on social media, “On the one hand, the government says that it has encouraged electronic transactions by preparing a blueprint for a digital frame network, while on the other hand, the practice of imposing taxes on electronic transactions with a petty mind is causing additional financial burden on the general public. I have requested the government to formulate the necessary policies and structures for free digital payments in the coming days and encourage digital payment users to make digital payments more convenient and effective.”
