The parents of the deceased students had opened a trust with commitments from the school as well as the government to deposit funds in it. According to Bhanuchandra Neupane, president of the trust, neither the school nor the government have fulfilled their commitments.
The accident took place on December 11 when a school bus (Ga 1 Kha 1459) from Chitwan-based Hill Bird Secondary School returning from a picnic skidded off the highway at Thumsi in Gaindakot in Nawalparasi district.
"The Hill Bird Boarding School had committed Rs 2.5 million, but we haven´t received even a penny till date," said Neupane.
The trust has only been able to collect Rs 15,000 from each parent and the insurance amount, which the parents want to donate to the trust, hasn´t been received either.
The trust wants to create a picnic spot and a Devi temple at the accident spot by spending Rs 5 million, but since no one has fulfilled their monetary commitments, the trust is losing its patience, says Neupane.
Officials of Private and Boarding Schools of Nepal (PABSON), Chitwan, say that the money is being collected from schools across Nepal and the principal of the concerned school is in Kathmandu raising the funds.
