Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Kripasur Sherpa handed a check worth Rs 50,000 to Regmi during the interaction program on "Sustainable tourism promotion in Nepal post-earthquake," organized by Mountaineering and Rock Climbing Sports Association (MRA) on Wednesday.Hailing from Nalang VDC, ward-4, Regmi is associated with Annapurna National Daily since nearly a decade.
Likewise, MRA also supported the family of late Suman Bhomjan, a sports journalist based in Kathmandu who died after his rented house in Mahabouddha collapsed in the quake, and Dipesh KC, a member of MRA, with Rs 25,000 each. KC's house was also damaged in the quake.
Minister Sherpa, who was also felicitated by the MRA, handed over the amount to former president of Nepal Sports Journalists' Forum Niranjan Rajbanshi.
MRA general secretary Megraj Paudel also announced that the association would organize a Suman Bhomjan Memorial Climbing Media Cup in memory of late sports journalist Bhomjan. The first edition of the tournament will be organized in a few days and it would be held annually, according to Paudel.
