The locals have been protesting against inclusion of districts in Karnali in the far-west province.
In Jumla, demonstrators vandalized the offices of four parties, including Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and UCPN (Maoist) on Tuesday. Police had opened 14 rounds of fire to disperse the protestors.
Likewise, police had to open four rounds of fire to disperse the mob in front of District Administration Office, Jumla.
Raj Bahadur Mahat, president of Construction Entrepreneurs' Association of Jumla, has been shot at by the police. Mahat is currently undergoing treatment at Karnali Institute of Health Sciences (KIHS) Teaching Hospital.
According to Chief District Officer (CDO) Dipendra Raj Paudel, a team of additional 70 Armed Police Force (APF) personnel was brought to Jumla from Nepalgunj to control the situation.
Meanwhile, issuing a press statement in the capital on Tuesday, National Human Rights Commission has urged the police and demonstrators to exercise restraint.
In Kalikot, local party activists, businessmen and civil society members have continued their general strike to protest against the proposed federal map. They have been demanding special rights for Karnali province.
Kurmaraj Shahi, a UML leader, said they would not allow any district in Karnali zone to be included in the far-west province.
A five-member protest management committee led by Surya Bahadur Shahi, chairperson of chamber of commerce, Kalikot has been formed to further intensify the protest.
In Mugu, local activists of parties and various organizations continued similar protest on Tuesday.
