KATHMANDU, Aug 7: Newly appointed Bagmati Province Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya has said that the private sector, transportation, marginalized, and impoverished communities will be his top priorities during his tenure.



During a program organized by the Narayani Transport Entrepreneurs Association on Wednesday to congratulate and welcome him, CM Baniya, who is also an advisor to the association, expressed his commitment to working for the improvement of the transportation sector.

He said that he will work in a way that motivates and encourages transport entrepreneurs.


CM Baniya also mentioned that he would coordinate with the federal government to take initiatives for the repair of national highways that are in a dilapidated condition.


He emphasized the need to expedite the expansion of the Pathlaiya–Hetauda–Narayangadh road section. He stated that in a democracy, the private sector remains the main backbone of development.


The association’s president, Hiralal Shrestha, informed CM Baniya about the problems faced in the transport sector.


He complained that corruption in the transport sector begins under the pretext of vehicle registration.
