FNCCI gets new executive members under Anjan Shrestha

The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has elected its new central working committee under leadership of Anjan Shrestha.

KATHMANDU, May 6: The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has elected its new central working committee under leadership of Anjan Shrestha.



The umbrella organization, through its 60th Annual General Meeting and its leadership election held on Monday-Tuesday, elected its new executive members to work for the next three years. Through the election, FNCCI Senior Vice-President Anjan Shrestha has been automatically promoted to lead the private sectors’ association as per the provisions of the FNCCI statute.  


Two panels led by Shrestha and Hemraj Dhakal contested in the elections for the FNCCI executive members. Prabal Jung Pandey from Anjan's group has been elected as the vice president for the associate section. Pandey was elected by defeating his rival Jyotsana Shrestha by 329 votes. While Pandey got 1,079 votes, Shrestha, who is from Hemraj's panel, had to satisfy with 750 votes.

Juna Mathema and Abhigya Malla from Pandey’s panel have been elected with 1,156 and 1,059 votes, respectively. Of the other 17 members elected as associate members, 16 are from Pandey's panel.


For the associate member category, Sachin Dhakal won by getting 1,318 votes, Hemant Golchha 1,202, Ambika Prasad Poudel 1,183, Ujjwal Kumar Shrestha 1,156, Shakti Kumar Begani 1,142, Rishi Agarwal 1,122, Sushil Thapa 1,094, Rajesh Kumar Agarwal 1,082, Suyas Pyakurel 1,069, Ram Sharan Bhandari 1,043, Babukaji Karki 1,006, Divash Neupane 991, Krishnalal Maharjan 974, Priyaraj Regmi 954, Ishwar Bahadur GC 949, Suraj Upreti 907 and Batu Lamichhane 860 votes. Batu is from Jyotsana's panel.


Krishna Prasad Sharma and Dil Sunder Shrestha have won the post of District Municipal Vice-president. Sharma got 87 votes and Shrestha got 80 votes. Both of them are from Anjan's group.


While most of the candidates from Anjan's group were elected, Hemraj's group got the commodity vice-president. Naresh Lal Shrestha has won the commodity vice-president post. Shrestha secured 63 votes while his rival Shiva Ghimire got 60 votes.


Thirteen people won as executive committee members from commodity groups. These include Araniko Rajbhandari, Naniraj Ghimire, Pashupati Dev Pandey, Bidur Dhamala, Bhakta Bahadur Hamal, Rabin Puri, Rajkumar Karki, Lilendra Prasad Pradhan, Sangharsh Bista, Sagar Dhakal and Hom Prasad Ghimire.


Sunita Nhemhaphuki won as a female executive member from this group. Bishwanath Khanal and Sunaina Ghimire won as executive members from the commodity federations.


In 2016, the FNCCI amended its statute to allow the senior vice-president to automatically assume the presidency without contesting an election. The organization has followed this provision for the past eight years. Last year, the FNCCI removed the provision of automatic elevation. With the provision in effect, the FNCCI will hold an election to choose the president for the next tenure.
