However, traders say increase in price has not affected the sale of modern crystal lights. Kapil Humagain, sales in-charge of Genuine Lights at Kamaladi, said increase in price has not affected the sales as people are ready to pay high prices to make their houses look beautiful.
Customers can get ceiling lights, flush ceiling lights, pendant lights, chandeliers, wall lights, spotlights, kitchen lights, bathroom lights, outdoor lights, garden lights, table lamps and floor lamps in the local market which are mostly imported from China and a few from India as well.
Crystal Lights has on offer varities of lights. Rajbanshi said that just adding a light in a dining room or entrance hall can give a classy look to one´s home and hence the demand is increasing.
In the local market price of crystal lights ranges from Rs 660 to Rs 300,000 depending on the size, design and materials used in it.
“When many people think of chandeliers, they think of the classic crystal style, complete with hanging droplets, prisms and beads, but now we have a comprehensive selection of crystal chandeliers, with various combinations of light bearing arms, crystal drops, candelabra and finials,” said Rajbanshi. Chandeliers are available in the range of Rs 160,000 to Rs 300,000.
On an average the store sells 8 to 12 pieces of chandeliers a month.
Ceiling lights cost in the range of Rs 10,000 to Rs 46,000, up from Rs 9,000 to Rs 45,000 a month ago.
Similarly, the new range of gate lights and terrace lights are available for Rs 660 to Rs 7,000.
