KATHMANDU, Dec 24: The President´s Office on Thursday refuted Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal´s claim Wednesday that President Dr Ram Baran Yadav did not visit China during the Olympic Games in 2008 under Indian pressure.

"The president was not invited [to the Olympic Games]. So there is no question of him visiting China," the president´s press advisor Rajendra Dahal told Republica on Thursday.

A top government source said China was in confusion over who to invite for visit because Girija Prasad Koirala was outgoing prime minister during that time and the president had just been elected. When Pushpa Kamal Dahal replaced Koirala as prime minister during the same time, the Maoist-led cabinet decided that the prime minister would visit China, the source said.
