Premier thrashed Nepal Army 115-47 in a Pool A match on Thursday. Premier dominated all the quarters with the scores of 27-13, 31-10, 24-9 and 33-15 as Sadish Pradhan top scored for the winning team with 31 points. [break]
With the win, Premier, which defeated Far Western Region in its first match, has four points from two matches. GoldenGate also has four points after defeating Nepal Army and Far Western. The last match of the group between Premier and Golden Gate will decide the group winner. Far Western Region lost all its matches of the group stage.
Meanwhile, South Siders and NASA won their respective matches in Pool B on Thursday. In the closely contested matches, South Siders edged past Navodit College 73-67 while NASA pulled off a 93-90 victory over Morgan International College.
South Siders took the first quarter 17-12 and widened the lead with a score of 23-13 in the second quarter. Navodit bounced back in the third quarter scoring 24 points against South Siders´ 11. However, South Siders won the match as it took the final quarter 22-18. Sanjay Byanjankar (Jersey No 8) top scored for South Siders with 38 points.
In the other match, Binod Maharjan scored 29 points for NASA as it dominated all but the third quarter to edge past Morgan with the scores of 29-23, 31-28, 14-22 and 19-17.
In the women´s section, Premier beat GoldenGate 59-30. GoldenGate took an 11-5 lead in the first quarter, but Premier took control in the last three quarters with the scores of 21-9, 14-2 and 19-8. Alisha Malla scored 10 points for the winning team.
