Pre-budget Discussion: House allocates 12 hours for ruling and six hours for oppn parties

The House of Representatives has scheduled time for a pre-budget discussion. The discussions will take place over four days beginning Tuesday. A total of 18 hours have been allocated for the discussions.

KATHMANDU, May 13: The House of Representatives has scheduled time for a pre-budget discussion. The discussions will take place over four days beginning Tuesday. A total of 18 hours have been allocated for the discussions.


While 4 hours has been on the first day, five hours have been set aside for the discussions on the second day. Similarly, four hours have been allocated on May 15 and five hours on May 16 for pre-budget discussion.


The ruling Nepali Congress and the main opposition party, CPN (Maoist Centre), each have been allotted five hours for their participation in the discussions.

The Maoist Centre has been allocated 2 hours, while the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) will have 82 minutes for the pre-budget discussion. The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has been given 50 minutes.


Other parties have been allotted varying amounts of time, including the Unified Socialist Party with 40 minutes, the Janata Samajwadi Party with 28 minutes and the Janamat Party with 24 minutes.


Additionally, the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP Nepal), Loktantrik Samajwadi Party Nepal, and Nagarik Unmukti Party will each have 20 minutes, 16 minutes and 16 minutes, respectively. These time allocations are part of the total 18 hours scheduled for the discussions over four days.


The Nepal Worker Peasants Party, Rastriya Janamorcha, and Aam Janata Party have each been allocated 5 minutes. Additionally, two independent lawmakers have each been given 5 minutes.


Currently, there are seven parties supporting the government, and they have been allotted a total of 760 minutes. This equals just over 12 hours of discussion time.


In total, 1,083 minutes have been allocated for the discussions. Of this, the opposition parties have received 323 minutes, which is just less than 6 hours.
