Speaking to reporters at the tea reception hosted by UCPN (Maoist) in the capital on Friday, the leaders emphasized on the need of forming a government of national consensus and holding elections to the CA coming April.[break]
For this the leaders should wipe out the crisis of trust looming large among the major political parties, they said.
Addressing the participants of the tea reception, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said the political parties need to reach a new agreement to move ahead.
Stating that an agreement has already been reached among the parties to hold elections to the CA this April, Chairman Dahal however said that a formal agreement for the same has to be reached by this November, otherwise elections will not be possible in April.
He also ruled out the possibility of any political way out in absence of an agreement among the parties. "The political leaders of Nepal are capable of resolving the situation", he said.
Chairman Dahal commented that the present political crisis was a result of the political parties´ focus on attaining power only.
Likewise, Nepali Congress Vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel pointed out the need of honesty in the leaders and that the ruling side needs to open the door to consensus.
Stating that the leaders need to sacrifice for drafting a democratic constitution, Poudel suggested the UCPN (Maoist) and the Government to take special initiative for a consensus.
He, however, expressed the confidence that the ongoing discussion among the parties would resolve the political crisis soon.
CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal emphasized on the need of a government of national consensus for a way out to the present political crisis.
Emphasizing on the need of holding CA elections by coming April, he also stressed that the ruling side should take special initiative towards that end.
There is no alternative for the parties to come together for a government of political consensus and necessary laws for fresh elections, he added.
CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan Baidhya said the political parties´ talks and dialogue are concentrated only on the issue of government, and thereby a resolution was yet to arrive.
Initiative for a consensus should be made by the senior leadership, he added.
Likewise, President of Madheshi Janadhikar Forum Nepal Upendra Yadav said the country should be stopped from becoming a failed state and appealed to the leaders to rise above party interest and work for the country and people.
A political agreement is must on the kind of constitution we want to promulgate, he added.
President of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Republican) Raj Kishore Yadav said all the political party leaders need to transform themselves if a new Nepal is to be built.
The country is at a sensitive point but the leaders are talking about consensus only in speeches and not putting it into practice, Yadav said.
Other leaders speaking on the occasion had called for seriousness on part of the leaders to resolve the crisis, and the inevitability of a political consensus for the same.
