Police to take action against 'extravagant' activities during Teej

CHITWAN, Aug 21: The District Administration Office Chitwan has requested denizens in the district to not promote extravagance in the upcoming Teej festival.

Extravagance would affect social goodwill and harmony, the residents of Chitwan have been requested not to promote it, said administrative officer Shesh Kant Poudel.The office has also warned of action as per the Social Conduct Reforms Act and Regulations 2033 B.S. if any person is found indulging in extravagant activities in course of celebrating the festival. In a public notice, the Office has requested all to observe the festival as per social tradition and norms.

The festival of Teej, observed basically by Hindu women, falls on September 15 this year. However, many programs and events related to the festival have already begun. RSS
