KATHMANDU, Dec 8: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Nepal Police has been arrested for allegedly killing his four-month-old son during a domestic dispute at a rented apartment in Sinamangal, Kathmandu.
According to Kathmandu District Police Chief SP Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when an argument escalated, resulting in the infant’s death.

The suspect, 29-year-old ASI Pushkar Karki of Doti, is accused of fatally attacking his son, Mahir Karki, with a sharp weapon. Police say he also assaulted his wife, Bishnah Saud, who is also an ASI. Both were working at Tribhuvan International Airport.
“The dispute reportedly began over the child’s medical care. In the heat of the argument, he assaulted his wife with a stone and then attacked the baby,” SP Bhattarai said. Both husband and wife were stationed at the Tribhuvan International Airport Security Police Office.
Pushkar then fled the scene, reportedly intending to take his own life, but was apprehended later in the evening at the Nagdhunga checkpoint.
The injured mother is currently receiving treatment at Nepal Police Hospital.
