Photo exhibition on Khaptad area kicks off

KATHMANDU, July 15: A photo exhibition concerning the Khaptad Malika area in the Far-Western region kicked off in the Capital from Sunday.The exhibition displays 40 photos related to the Khaptad area. The photos are taken by photo journalist Balkrishna Thapa.



The event will run till July 18.[break]



Opening the exhibition at the Nepal Tourism Board, Nepali Congress senior leader and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba said the event would help disseminate touristic sites in the far-western region.



On the occasion, leader Deuba said that a way out to the existing political crisis in the country was possible only on the basis of consensus among the parties and urged Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai to resign from the post to pave the way for forging national unity.



Likewise, CPN (UML) leader Bhim Rawal said though the far western region is rich in natural resources, political instability has obstructed the development of the region.UCPN (Maoist) leader Lekhraj Bhatta underlined the need of unity among the parties on the development endeavours for the far-western region.



According to journalist Thapa, the event is supported by different organizations. The objective of the exhibition is to disseminate historic, natural and cultural importance of the far west, added Thapa.
