Speaking to a team of reporters at his residence in the capital, Paudel said, “It is not appropriate only to harp on new elections. If they oppose CA reinstatement, they should also be able to give its proper alternative.” [break]
Paudel, who is basically pressing for CA revival in recent times, also said he is ready to go for either of the options—CA reinstatement or new CA polls—if that would mean giving a constitutional and political to the country.
Likewise, he stressed on clearing constitutional hurdles for new elections. “First, the way should be opened for fresh mandate. And for that, consensus is needed. The new elections are not going to be held without this.”
Stating that the president will remain in office until next elections after the promulgation of the new constitution, Paudel said it is quite obvious for him, as the state head, to have some kind of role when there is a constitutional crisis in the country.
The NC leader also ruled out possibility of new elections under the current Baburam Bhattarai-led government. He further warned Prime Minister Bhattarai to voluntarily relinquish the post or face protest that he said would finally throw him out of the government.
