PADT bids farewell to Sadhus after Shivaratri celebrations

KATHMANDU, March 9: The Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) Wednesday bade farewell to around 500 Sadhus (holy men) gathered at the Pashupatinath Temple from home and abroad to observe the Mahasivaratri festival that celebrated on Monday with cash and sweets.

They were given Rs 151 to Rs 5,000 according to their status. PADT Chair and Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Ananda Prasad Poudel was also present on the occasion. Sadhus from New Delhi, Hariyana, Punjab and Brindaban of India arrived here to observe the festival.Syami Abhayananda and 93-year-old Dr Bheema Shanker known as 'Gadur Baba' were at the temple on the occasion of the Shivaratri, the Hindu festival dedicated to Lord Shiva. The PADT released Rs 1.1 million for food, accommodation and cash offering for Sadhus coming to the temple to observe the festival. RSS
