KATHMANDU, Oct 6: Newly renovated, the doors of the China Garden at the Soaltee Crowne Plaza at Tahachal opened for Oriental food lovers during the first week of September.

The China Garden, an Indian restaurant chain, is the brainchild of Nelson Wang, the man who is known for introducing Manchurian cuisine to the world.[break]

The China Garden now boasts of a menu with 300 different varieties of Chinese, Thai, Mongolian, Singaporean as well as Vietnamese dishes.

“While Chinese is our main focus, the menu has been designed in such a way that cuisines of other Asian countries are also touched,” says Yuba Raj Pokhrel, Executive Sous Chef.

According to him, vegetarian food choices comprise 25% of the menu which has been divided into six categories for soup, principal starters, starters, main course, rice noodles, and desserts while the main course section itself includes separate sections for different options of meat, seafood and vegetables.

For starters, crispy rolls filled with fresh vegetables are a good choice. The E-Fa wonton vegetables are your normal wontons dipped in sauce with vegetables.

Whereas the smoky chilly chicken, chicken pieces in a plate full of fried red chilies, is a dish which appeals to your sight, smell and tongue.

Main courses such as Tappan Yaki chicken, Hakka beans and Fish red pepper dry are crowd pleasers.

The China Garden offers limited dessert options amongst which honey noodles with ice-cream is a must-try.

“Most of our ingredients and all of our meat as well as seafood products are imported from the China Garden production unit in India while our meat is Halal certified,” ensures to Executive Sous Chef Pokhrel.

The restaurant’s ambience is subtly Chinese with little decorative items such as teapots and carved Chinese letters which any person who is accustomed with the Chinese culture would appreciate.

A wine cellar has also been added to the restaurant and the vintages complementing the food menu are available.

“With an emphasis on the synergy between food production and services, we strive to provide quality, consistency and great experience,” said Balaram Pathak, Director – Food & Beverage at Soaltee Crowne Plaza.

The China Garden is open for lunch from 12:30 pm to 2:45 pm and for dinner from 7 pm to 10:45 pm. For reservations, call 4273999.
