NT has received complaints from both GSM and CDMA users.[break]
An NT official said they were receiving complaints mostly in GSM recharge cards with talk value of Rs 100 and Rs 200.
“Complaints about used recharge cards have slightly gone higher in recent weeks. Earlier, such complaints were very rare,” he added.
NT Spokesperson Surendra Prasad Thike told Republica that public notice was published to raise awareness among customers following such complaints. “We have published public notice in most of the newspapers so that customers aren´t cheated by foul players,” he added.
Customers get 13-digit unique code after scratching the recharge card. NT suspects some groups are involved in bringing the used recharge cards in market by covering the unique code again.
NT official said customers can easily differentiate between the new and used cards.
NT has asked customers to buy recharge card only if it is wrapped in plastic cover and not to purchase cards even if it is slightly scratched. It has also asked customers to dispose off the card once the account is recharged.
“We have asked our customers to complain us at earliest so that we can track down people engaged in foul play,” the official said. He further said the problem was found in recharge cards purchased from unauthorized dealers.
