NRNs’ citizenship based on descent should be continued: RPP Chair Lingden

JHAPA, Aug 31: The Chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Rajendra Lingden, has demanded that non-resident Nepalis' citizenship based on descent should be given continuity.



In a press conference held  in Birtamod by the district committee of the party on Sunday, he argued that the citizenship on the basis of descent of the Nepalis living abroad should be continued to connect them to Nepal's prosperity.

He said, "Nepal exists outside of Nepal also. The Nepalis living abroad are outside the geographical boundary of Nepal. They also care about Nepal."


The RPP Chair stated that the provision preventing dual citizenship in the amendment to the Citizenship Act following the political change in 2006 has significantly affected Nepali citizens of descent who have gone abroad to earn, study, and seek employment.
