The Curriculum Development Center (CDC) has made changes to the six compulsory subjects: Nepali, English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Health, Environment and Population.A policy of the Ministry of Education (MoE) calls for revising school level courses every 10 years.
The government revised books for class eight in the current fiscal year, and is set to begin the new academic session with revised books for class nine. Likewise, the textbooks for class 10 are to be revised next year.
Janak Education Materials Center has already published the revised version of the books meant for class nine.
The newly designed textbooks aim to develop knowledge and skills and instill value in the students, according to Tuka Raj Adhikari, Deputy Director of CDC.
He further said that the government has already distributed the new textbooks of class nine in Manang, Mustang, Humla, Dolpa and Jumla districts from February 13. The new session has already begun in these five districts.
The CDC has made changes to the textbooks in a manner that meets the international standard.
Chandra Kanta Bhusal, deputy-director of CDC, informed that concepts related to secular state, the new constitution of Nepal and the spirit of nationality have been included in the social subject.
Anil Kumar Jha, general manager at Janak Education Materials Center (JEMC), said that the books will be formally distributed to 70 districts in April 17, 2016.
The JEMC has already published 9.4 million textbooks and will make them available to the market from March 28.
