KATHMANDU, Oct. 5: The Nepal Food Corporation (NFC) has decided to sell goats from October 19 as its attempt to meet the soaring demand for mutton in the capital during the festive season.

NFC spokesperson Indra Prasad Sitaula said that the goats would be brought to Kathmandu from Makawanpur and Banke districts by October 16 and the price would be fixed based on investment ratio.

He said only healthy goats would be bought from the farmers after the health check-up.

Sitaula said that around 3,000 goats would be brought in the capital and Rs 18.4 million has been allocated to purchase the goats.

The NFC had brought 2,500 goats in the capital last year.
