New IGP assumes office

KATHMANDU, Sept 14: Newly-appointed Nepal Police IGP Kuber Singh Rana officially assumed his office from Friday after Home Secretary Nabin Kumar Ghimire presented insignia amid a function at the Ministry of Home Affairs at Singha Durbar.



Addressing the function Ghimire said the new IGP faces challenges regarding organizational reforms and suggested to Rana to focus on transparency, good governance and service delivery.[break]



Shortly after receiving insignia Rana visited Bagalamukhi temple in Lalitpur.



An welcome function was organized at the Nepal Police headquarters in the afternoon. Addressing the function Rana said he has 16 priorities including zero tolerance for financial irregularities, initiative for securing budget resources for investigations, merit-based promotions and career development programs, less paper administration and women friendly environment among other things.



AIG Naba Raj Dhakal, speaking at the function said the new IGP should work toward citizen-centered policing, transparency within the institution and addressing the concerns of low-ranking police personnel.
