KATHMANDU, Feb 20: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Thursday increased marginally by 3.14 points to close at 2,743.74 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,740.59 points and plunged to the day’s low at 2,721.46 points in the first 22 minutes. The index then soared to as high as 2,752.36 points in the next two hours. The market shed around nine points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

Six out of 13 groups were the losers, with the development index plunging by the largest of 101.73 points. Of the seven gainers, life insurance surged by the highest of 230.04 points.
The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies declined 1.90 points. Daily turnover declined to Rs 8.62 billion from Rs 10.43 billion on Tuesday. The secondary market remained closed on Wednesday with the government announcing a public holiday to mark National Democracy Day.
Among the individual companies, 81 were gainers while 158 were registered as losers. Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 656.60 million.
Guardian Micro Life Insurance Limited by adding 9.99 percent in its market value was recorded as the topmost gainer. Barahi Hydropower Public Limited lost the highest of 8.35 percent of its market price.
