KATHMANDU, Jan 28: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Wednesday inched up 5.38 points to close at 2,731.89 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,726.51 points and jumped to as high as 2,734.39 points before plunging to the day’s low at 2,702.83 points within the first one hour and 40 minutes. In the next two hours, the market reached the day’s high at 2,735.11 points. The market corrected by around four points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

Five groups had their indices declined, as life insurance plunged by the largest of 11.95 points. Of the eight gainers, manufacturing and processing surged by the largest of 38.74 points.
The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies decreased by 0.19 points. The daily turnover declined to Rs 11.49 billion from Rs 14.16 billion.
Among the individual companies, 141 were gainers while 112 were recorded as losers. Ankhu Khola Jalvidhyut Company had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 835.75 million.
Two companies Corporate Development Bank Limited and Ankhu Khola Jalvidhyut Company were the topmost gainers. Goodwill Finance Limited Debenture 2083 had the highest fall 8.07 percent.
