Nepali student found dead in KIIT University hostel in Odisha

Reports suggest that she had previously complained to the university's International Relations Office about alleged abuse by a male classmate.

KATHMANDU, Feb 17: A Nepali student was found dead under unclear circumstances in a hostel at Odisha's Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) University on Sunday night. The deceased has been identified as Prakriti Lamsal, a third-year B.Tech student. The cause of death is yet to be ascertained.


Reports suggest that she had previously complained to the university's International Relations Office about alleged abuse by a male classmate. A social media user also shared an audio clip related to the case. Students protested outside the university after the incident, accusing the administration of negligence.
