KATHMANDU, May 9: Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has said Nepal is at a critical stage where the country can redirect and strengthen its economy.
Speaking at a program in Kathmandu on Friday evening, Wagle urged industrialists and business leaders to remain patient until the announcement of the upcoming national budget, hinting at reforms and policy measures aimed at economic recovery.

Highlighting the importance of political stability and honest governance, the finance minister cited India’s economic progress as an example for Nepal to follow. He noted that when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed office in 2014, several indicators of India’s economy were comparable to Nepal’s current economic condition.
“Over the past 12 years, India has made remarkable economic progress,” Wagle said. “Nepal must now move forward on a similar path.”
According to him, Nepal has the potential to achieve significant economic transformation if the government remains committed to stability, policy consistency, and development-oriented governance.
