Swarnim Wagle elected RSP vice president unopposed

Wagle became the sole candidate for the male vice president post after Biraj Bhakta Shrestha withdrew his candidacy. Shrestha himself proposed Wagle’s name for the position.

KATHMANDU, June 26: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) leader Swarnim Wagle has been elected unopposed as the party’s vice president.



Wagle became the sole candidate for the male vice president post after Biraj Bhakta Shrestha withdrew his candidacy. Shrestha himself proposed Wagle’s name for the position.

Meanwhile, RSP central member Shisir Khanal has withdrawn his candidacy for the post of general secretary.


Khanal, who is also the foreign minister, announced his decision through a social media post on Friday, saying he stepped aside to respect the desire for consensus and strengthen the party.


“I have decided to withdraw my candidacy for the post of general secretary from the election, respecting the desire for consensus and to institutionalize the achievements of the first historic general convention and further strengthen the party,” Khanal wrote.
