KATHMANDU, Jan 2: A meeting of Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN UML has concluded to intensify bilateral and multilateral with UCPN (Maoist) and other ruling parties to form a national consensus government at the earliest so that holding new Constituent Assembly (CA) will be possible by mid-May.

“We will keep our efforts to agree on new national consensus government in the next three days,” NC General Secretary Krishna Sitaula told reporters after the meeting at NC party office, Sanepa on Wednesday. [break]

UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal alleged that the Maoist leaders are not in favor of new consensus government so that they can defer fresh CA election. "Maoists leaders are not cooperating for formation of new consensus government. They are sticking to power to defer fresh CA election," Nepal added.

A team of NC leaders led by party President Sushil Koirala and UML leaders led by Chairman Jhalanath Khanal were present in the meeting.
