KATHMANDU, March 14: The election committee of the Nepali Congress (NC) has concluded the vote counting for the Central Working Committee (CWC) members under open category on Monday.
As per the results of the elections held for 25 CWC members, Dr Shekhar Koirala got highest votes among the 25 elected CWC members.Koirala got 1,848 votes while Khum Bahadur Khadka got 1,846 votes and Prakashman Singh secured 1,795 votes.
Vote counting concludes in 703 local bodies
The other elected CWC members are Pradeep Poudel, Kul Bahadur Gurung, Pradip Giri, Dhanraj Gurung, Bal Krishna Khand, Ramesh Lekhak, Purna Bahadur Khadka, Mahesh Acharya, Bal Bahadur KC, Bimalendra Nidhi and Dr Ram Sharan Mahat, Sujata Koirala, Bishwo Prakash Sharma, Shankar Bhandari, NP Saud, Badri Pandey, Gopalman Shrestha, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat, Dr Narayan Khadka, Chandra Bhandari and Dr Minendra Rijal.
The elections were held on March 6.
Out of total 3161 votes, 3,148 votes were cast in the 13th general convention held for new leadership of the NC, he added.
Ninety candidates filed their nominations for 25 posts of central committee members under open category while 67 candidates for 14 seats of seven provinces.
Results of the elections held for 14 under the provincial representation category are yet to be announced. The election committee has already concluded the vote counting of the party president, general secretary, treasurer and 22 CWC members from women, Muslim, Janajati, Dalit and Madhesi categories.
