CHITWAN, Sept 27: The Narayanghat-Muglin road has reopened after authorities cleared a mudslide that had blocked the Namsi Khola bridge amid continuous rainfall.
Vehicles and cargo trucks travelling between Narayangadh and Pokhara have resumed movement following the clearance of the debris.
According to the Chitwan Road Division Office, a mudslide fell near the bridge at around 7:55 am. The road reopened at 12:15 pm, said Krishna Acharya, information officer at the office.
Meanwhile, landslides at 11 locations have disrupted the Malekhu-Muglin section of the Prithvi Highway.

Sachindra Mishra, information officer of the Nagdhunga-Muglin Road Project’s western section, said a landslide carrying mud and trees has blocked the road at Shitalbazar and also damaged the roadside.
A mudslide near Gomtikhola close to Benighat Bazaar has reduced traffic to one lane, while another landslide from above Krishnabhir has blocked the highway.
Mishra said rocks and mud have blocked the road at Jamireghat-Chaukibhir, while smaller rockslides have occurred at several locations between Hugdi Khola and Jawang Khola.
Around 200 metres of road at three locations near Fishling have been covered by rocks, mud and trees. Around 30 metres of the road has also developed cracks, affecting half of its width.
A rockslide has blocked the road at Chumlingtar, while around 50 metres of road at two locations in Dharapani has been damaged.
Authorities are also working to clear a blocked culvert in the Dharapani area. Large rocks and mudslides have blocked the road at Ghoptebhir and Simaldhara.
Mishra said workers are clearing landslides at all affected locations and expect to reopen the highway by evening if no major landslide occurs.
The contractor’s equipment has been mobilized to clear the debris and restore traffic.
