Her closest rival Gautam received 649 votes, out of the total 1,519 votes cast.

The panel led by Gautam, who is close to senior UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, won very few of the top office bearer positions. As per the result, announced late night on Sunday at the UML headquarters based in Dhumbarahi, Lama panel won the top four posts of vice-chair, general secretary, four secretaries and treasurer. Of the few top positions, Gautam panel managed to bag only three posts of secretaries.

Ain Mahar won the position of general-secretary with 831 votes while his rival Abdul Husain Khan received 667 votes. For the post of treasurer, Jhapindra Khatri beat his rival Kamal Shahi.

From Gautam panel, Aarati Lama, Washim Aalam and Sudesh Parajuli were elected for the post of secretary while  Amrit Budha, RC Lamichhane, Samik Badal, and Makar Khadka bagged the post from Lama panel.

Of the 1,597 voters, only 1,519 representatives participated in the voting process that was delayed because of disputes over the number of the representatives coming from various districts.

The Lama panel has won most of the 141 seats in the central committee. The election was being contested for 17 office-bearer posts and 141 seats for central committee members. Lama panel has also swept positions in other various committees such as election, finance among others.

The general convention of the ANNFSU started on Feb 11 Thursday, but voting had started only after a week and counting was too delayed.
