The Mt Everest Fashion Runway, scheduled for January 25, 2020 is a Guinness Book of World Record attempt to have the highest fashion runway in the world. A total of 15 supermodels from Milan and five models from Nepal will put on a show for 45 minutes at 5,644 meters.
The main theme of the show is to join hands against climate change by promoting sustainable fashion. Fashion industry is one of the biggest polluters of the world. With cheap clothes, ever changing trends, and relentless marketing to keep up, fast fashion causes quite an impact. The industry is responsible for the production of 10 percent of humanity’s carbon emission and is the second largest to pollutes the oceans with micro plastics.

Speaking about the show CEO of Nepal Tourism Board, Depak Raj Joshi said, “No event can be better than this to promote visit Nepal 2020 and share our theme ‘Visit Nepal for lifetime experience’.”
With a team of more than 30 people trekking to Kala Pathar, the event is doing its part in minimizing its environmental impact. Amid the show, models will be using all Nepali, organic and biodegradable line made of felt and pashmina to introduce Nepali sustainable fashion to the world.
The show is also looking forward for promoting Nepali Kyanite stones. Nepali Kyanite is the best quality Kyanite gemstones in the world. To make the show more sustainable, probiotic soaps and laundry bars will be used during the trek up to Kala Pathar.
These products do not pollute the environment after being used and introduced to the local water bodies. Similarly, all participants of the show will be using waterless shampoo that allows people to clean themselves without using water.
