KATHMANDU, Jan 7: Madhesi People´s Rights Forum (MPRF) on Thursday announced its first phase of protests against the government starting January 17.

A central committee meeting of the party accused the government of failing to show concern about Madhes and Madhesi people´s problems.

Addressing a press conference organized at the party office in Balkumari, party spokesperson Ram Sahaya Yadav said the MPRF has decided to conduct publicity campaign on January 17, submit memorandum to the prime minister through CDOs on January 18, pay homage to Madhesi martyrs on January 20 and stage district level rallies on January 22.

MPRF Chairman Upendra Yadav said they were compelled to launch protests as the government did not show any seriousness in implementing 22-point agreement reached with the party earlier.
