KATHMANDU, Jan 23: The meeting between Minister for Commerce and Supplies Lekha Raj Bhatta and agitating student unions and youth associations, who are protesting the recent fuel hike, on Monday afternoon failed to yield any result with the minister expressing helplessness to take back the decision on his own and the students remaining adamant that they will not halt their protest programs until the government withdraws its decision.

"Minister Bhatta said that the decision to raise the price was made by the cabinet and he cannot revoke it. He assured that he will take up the issue with the prime minister. So the protest programs will continue for now," said president of the CPN-UML affiliated All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) Madhav Dhungel after the meeting of 13 student unions and eight youth associations. The students had unveiled a nation-wide agitation program starting from Friday morning culminating in the Valley banda on January 25.
