KATHMANDU, Oct 25: Minister for Urban Development, Kulman Ghising, has stressed on the need of completing construction of the federal Parliament building located in the Singha Durbar complex on schedule.
After a site visit today, he instructed the contractor to establish a daily work plan for the ongoing construction.
Minister Ghising said, "The contractor has pledged to finalize the construction by the 16th of Poush (December 31) after extending the deadline for the fifth time; we must diligently work to meet this deadline."

The Federal Parliament building in New Baneshwar suffered damage during the recent Gen-Z protest, complicating the scheduling of National Assembly meetings.
“The Federal Parliament building at New Baneshwar was affected by arson during the protests. We need to hold National Assembly meetings. Following the upcoming elections, it is essential to convene the House of Representatives as well,” he stated.
Currently, it will take time to restore the damaged Parliament building for meetings. Thus, the new Parliament building must be completed as quickly as possible, the Minister added.
During this update, a representative from the contractor reported that 87 percent of the construction is complete, with finishing touches being applied inside the building.
The contractor also noted that delays have occurred due to the need to import certain construction materials, but they are committed to finishing the remaining work by the scheduled date of December 31.
The new Parliament building is being constructed within the Singha Durbar complex, spanning an area of 157 ropanis.
