KATHMANDU, April 14: Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal has instructed concerned authorities to complete the under-construction Parliament building within the allocated deadline, stressing the need for quality and timely execution.
During a discussion on Monday with officials from the Ministry of Urban Development and representatives of the construction companies, Aryal expressed concern over delays in the project and urged stakeholders to expedite the remaining work.
The meeting was also attended by National Assembly Chair Narayan Prasad Dahal, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Ruby Kumari Thakur, and Vice Chairperson of the National Assembly Lila Kumari Bhandari.

The construction of the Parliament building began on October 5, 2019, after a contract worth Rs 7.94 billion was awarded to Tundi-Shek JV. Initially scheduled for completion within three years, the project has yet to be finished and has already received six deadline extensions. As per the latest schedule, the project is expected to be completed by May 22.
The first session of the House of Representatives was conducted even while the building remained under construction.
According to the Ministry of Urban Development, around 94 percent of the construction work has been completed so far, with remaining interior and finishing works progressing at an accelerated pace.
The interior design and construction contract, worth Rs 2.34 billion, has been awarded to KC Shyamsundar Baniya JV, while the roofing work is being carried out by Channelink Engineering at a cost of Rs 38 million.
