SURKHET, Dec 20: The Jajarkot section of the Mid-Hill Highway has remained incomplete for 11 years. Out of the 85 kilometres of the Jajarkot section, only 55 kilometres have been paved so far. The section from Kudu to Thalaha of the highway is yet to be completed.
The road construction works from Thalaha to Subaya have been completed and the contractor has also handed over that section to the authorities concerned.

The nearly 30 kilometres of the incomplete road section has been causing problems every year. Chief Project Engineer Niranjan Thapa stated that the contractor has returned to work. Sharma-Singh Brothers, Kathmandu was awarded the contract for this road section. Engineer Thapa stated that preparations are being made to start survey work in the Manta Bhir section.
This highway, which has five sections, starts from Kudu in Bheri Municipality and ends at Suyada in Chhedagad Municipality of Jajarkot.
Although the 17-kilometre road up to Kudu–Syaulikhola was supposed to be completed in 2075 BS, Sharma–Singh and Brothers JV was given an extended deadline to complete it by Ashwin 2081 BS. It has achieved 80 percent progress so far.
The Thalaha–Suyada section, approximately 31 kilometres long, has been completed. Vehicles are operational here. Local Rajendra Bikram Shah said it is unfortunate that despite extending the deadline for nearly 11 years, the road construction could not be completed.
