MCC to arrive Friday for Nepal tour

KATHMANDU, Nov 10: England's Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) is set to begin its 13-day long Nepal tour from Friday as the London-based club is slated to play six friendly matches in different format against local teams.

As per the press release issued by Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) Secretary Uttam Karmacharya, MCC, which was founded in 1787, will play five matches in Kathmandu and a match in Pokhara.MCC, captained by Neil Dexter, who has played 117 first-class matches, will play its first match of T20 format against Nepali team, formed of Combined Nepal XI and Emerging U-19 players on Saturday in Kathmandu.

Then the visiting team will play 50-over match against Pokhara XI on November 16 in Pokhara and again face Nepali team formed of Combine XI and Emerging U-19 players in Kathmandu on November 18.

MCC is also scheduled to take on Nepal B Team in a 50-over friendly encounter on November 20 and play a two-day match against Nepali national cricket team on November 21 and 22 in Kathmandu. MCC will play its last match (50-over) of the tour against national team on November 23 and leave for England on the same day.

Nepali national team will play two List A matches (50-over) against Papua New Guinea in the second round of the ICC World Cricket League Championship in the UAE on November 16 and 18.

Colin Maber is the team manager, Martin Saggers is the umpire, CD Smith is the media staff and Matthew Jackson is the tour organizer.
