47 out of 1000 infants die as 65% women give births at home
The Family Health Survey report by the Ministry of Social Development shows that 65 percent of women continue to give birth at homes, despite government’s initiatives to promote institutional delivery. As a result, in every 1000 live births, 47 neonates die in the province. Likewise, child mortality rate is 29 per 1000 and the maternal mortality rate is 22 per 100,000 live births in the province.
Every day, more than 1,000 Nepali people go for foreign employment
As more than 1000 Nepali workers opt for foreign employment, the council of Ministers approved the 'inquisition guidelines' to minimize problems related to foreign employment presented by the Ministry of Labor and Employment. The ministry came up with the guideline in consultation with former ambassadors.
Govt provides Rs. 100 million to upscale production of Intraocular lens
The government provided Rs. 100 million to Dr Sanduk Ruit to increase the production of intraocular lens. Nepal made lens is highly sought in Pakistan, India and China. With 100 million support, the Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology will be able to increase production of intraocular lens from half million units to 1.5 million per year. Due to the low production of intraocular lens in South Asia, TIO has been exporting more than 60 percent of its annual production of intraocular lens in the region.

KMC comes up with drive to clear footpaths of business
The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) will remove footpath shops from Kathmandu within a couple of days. KMC’s drive began from Ratnapark today. KMC reached the decision as pavements in Kathmandu are increasingly being used by hawkers, thereby causing inconvenience to travelers. The drive has been implemented in collaboration with the city police.
