KATHMANDU, Sept 5: The CPN (Maoist Center) has decided not to organize large gatherings or mass meetings under its Mid-Hill Awareness Campaign. The decision was made during the office-bearers’ meeting held at the party headquarters in Parisdanda on Thursday. Party Spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota said that, as the monsoon season is still ongoing, the party will instead hold internal discussions at the party and grassroots levels.

The meeting also decided to keep the government accountable through public awareness campaigns and street protests. Discussions were also held on controlling factional activities within the party. “The meeting discussed the standing committee’s decision to dismantle factions and interest groups and monitor such activities. It also considered forming a monitoring committee, with the final decision to be made in the next meeting,” said Spokesperson Sapkota.
The meeting further discussed the responsibilities and division of work among leaders and cadres who joined the party through the unification process, as well as issues related to left unity.
