Madhes reels under scorching heat

RAUTAHAT, June 1: Rising temperature in Madhes has caused many people to fall sick from heat wave that is being experienced in several parts of the region, including Rautahat district. According to Gaur Hospital, the number of patients visiting the hospital has grown drastically in the last two days.

The temperature in Gaur on Monday noon touched 42 degree Celsius.

While streets where mostly deserted in the daytime, those who had been to their fields suffered from heat wave. Farmer Nagma Khatun, one of the victims of heat stroke was admitted to Gaur hospital after she fell unconscious while working in her field.Many people at Gaur Bus Park were attended and treated by the locals soon after they fell unconscious due to soaring temperature.

According to a doctor at Gaur hospital, over 60 people have been visiting the hospital on a daily seeking treatment for heat related problems. "Due to rising temperature, people feel dizzy and fall unconscious. Diarrhea and dysentery has sickened many others," said the doctor.

In order to avoid the scorching heat, people prefer to stay indoors, avoiding marketplaces, schools, public offices and the airport.
